Homage to Gandalf Gaván (1975-2014)
N2 Gallery wants to pay tribute to Gandalf Gaván (1975-2014), an artist whose impact will remain forever in the gallery. Despite its early death, his work was exhibited and is present in the most important institutions and museums around the world such as MoMA PS1 in New York or MACO Museum in Mexico among many others. With his partner Nicola Lopez formed a tandem that, despite having separate curricula and professional lives, is essential in the New York art movement of the last two decades.
The choice that N2 Gallery have considered to be shown with Gandalf’s work is entirely subjective. Artists who we met through him and were his close friends, such as Tra Bouscaren; Eva Davidova participated with him on several projects from N2 Gallery; and finally Evan Roth, who was an election in which Gandalf agreed with us in the great quality of this artist, coming from an entirely different movement, but whom he admired from the beginning.
Eva Davidova, Tra Bouscaren and Evan Roth, are very well-known artists whose work is in museums and collections around the world, won recognized awards and participated in discussion forums: MoMA in New York, Palace of Culture Ildo Lobo, Albright Knox Museum, Thyssen Bornemisza collection, Museum of Contemporary Art in Israel, Simthsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Award, expert Forum in Arco, among others.
